Giorgia Greta Basch (Italy, 1992) is a creative director, curator, publisher and critic working with visual practice. Her research currently focuses on photography as an active relational practice, the role of the intersubjective dimension, and the dialectic between the image and its meanings in the disciplines of art and fashion.

She is the founder of BilderAtlas, a space for visual practice engaged in curation, publishing and cultural research from a feminist, interdisciplinary perspective.
Embracing the atlas as a form of visual knowledge, BilderAtlas delivers the editorial collection Eight poems by, a series of limited-run, carefully crafted objects – photo books, artworks and designs that bring attention to women’s subjectivity and their contemporary visual researches. These projects are presented through a network of institutions and communities worldwide.

For five years, she held the direction of the Image Department at Jil Sander in Milan, where she staged a wide number of campaigns with, among others, Larry Fink, Lina Scheynius, Olivier Kervern, Chris Rhodes, Ute Mahler, Gillian Garcia. Previously, she has served as Online Editor for i-D from 2014 until 2017.

Since 2020 she is a board member of Libreria delle donne di Milano, a historical site of feminism founded in 1975.  She is part of the editorial team of VD3, the collective’s magazine, and consultant for the photographic achive.

In parallel, she has contributed to several international publications, has been giving conferences on photography and women’s labour, and has attended residencies in art institutions such as Kunstverein München and Fondazione Ica. In 2023 she has started a partnership with Belgian publisher Art Paper Editions, which results in the co-publishing of an ongoing series of books about women artists.

She obtained an MA Summa Cum Laude with Distinction in Visual Cultures and Curatorial Practices from Brera Academy of Fine Arts of Milan. Her thesis “Conversation as practice: a feminist perspective. Dialogues between art making and curating from the Seventies to the present”, supervised by curator and critic Barbara Casavecchia, has received critical acclaim. She holds a BA in Foreign Languages and Literatures from University of Triest, where she graduated with a thesis on Aby Warburg with philosopher Raoul Kirchmayr.

She is always looking for new opportunities to collaborate and work beyond the boundaries of conventional approaches, helping luxury brands, art institutions, editorial outlets and artists to communicate with diverse media in the evolving structures of modern life.
